Thinkpad Wireless Frequent Dis-Connection
By ET
My thinkpad keeps giving me the error message of wireless network lost connection. It happens only in my home, where there are more than 10 AccessPoints listed with the minimum signal strenghth higher than 80%. It comes to the point that it is very annoying and drops my remote connection to a server that I use for writing papers. It can’t be because of the laptop because it is “ThinkPad”, it can’t be the wireless access points, because they are all working well. So I decided to tweak my configurations.
1. I go to Control Panel->Admin Tools->Services and stopped Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC), and changed to to be disabled for next reboot.
2. I go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager, and selected the wireless card, load up the Properties, and for the “Power Save mode”, I changed the default value of “maximum” to “no”.
It seems to be solving the problem for now…
